Who we are

Harmony Creative is a sole proprietorship operated by Renée Lozeau, a freelance senior graphic designer based in British Columbia, Canada.

Website: https://harmonycreative.ca

How we collect and use information

Harmony Creative may collect personal information that you provide through the website, email, telephone, verbal communications, or other business interactions.

This information may include your name, contact details, correspondence, project requirements, billing information, and other information reasonably necessary to provide services and manage our business relationship.

Information is used for purposes such as:

  • Responding to inquiries and preparing quotes.
  • Communicating about projects and delivering services.
  • Preparing invoices, processing payments, and maintaining financial records.
  • Managing client accounts and maintaining business records.
  • Protecting the website and business against spam, fraud, and security issues.
  • Meeting applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

Harmony Creative does not sell personal information. We will never spam you. We use your data only in the normal course of doing business with you ‒ we’re old-school like that.

How information is shared

Personal information is treated as confidential and is not sold to third parties.

Information may be shared where reasonably necessary to operate the business, provide services, process payments, maintain records, protect the website, or comply with legal obligations. For example, website hosting providers, email services, spam-filtering services, payment providers, and accounting services may process relevant information in connection with their functions.

Information may also be disclosed where authorized or required by law, or with your consent.

Service providers may handle information under their own privacy and security practices. Where applicable, information may be processed or stored outside British Columbia or Canada.

How long information is retained

Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required for legal, tax, accounting, and other legitimate business purposes.

You may request access to or correction of personal information held by Harmony Creative. You may also request deletion where appropriate. Some records may need to be retained to comply with legal obligations or resolve outstanding business matters.

Payment information is handled through the applicable payment service. Harmony Creative does not intentionally retain complete payment-card details unless specifically required for an authorized purpose.

Website security, comments, and cookies

Website contact forms and emails may be checked by automated spam or security services.

Harmony Creative does not use website comment features as a means of collecting personal information. Technical information may nevertheless be processed by the website host or other services to operate, maintain, and secure the website.

No website or electronic communication method can be guaranteed completely secure. Reasonable measures are taken to protect information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or loss.

Your privacy rights and questions

British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) governs many aspects of how private-sector organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information.

You may contact Harmony Creative to ask what personal information is held about you, request access or correction, or raise a concern about its handling.

Privacy questions can be submitted through the contact page at https://harmonycreative.ca/contact/.

Copyright ownership

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Harmony Creative retains copyright in original creative work produced for a project.

The standard project fee includes a broad, non-exclusive licence for the client to use the final deliverables for their own business, promotional, and commercial purposes, subject to the restrictions outlined below.

Usage rights take effect once all applicable project fees have been paid in full, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Paying for creative services does not automatically transfer copyright ownership.

Permitted use

Clients may use their final deliverables for ordinary business activities, including:

  • Websites, social media, and digital communications.
  • Advertising, marketing, and promotional materials.
  • Business stationery, signage, and presentations.
  • Product packaging, labels, and other business materials.
  • Products and merchandise sold by the client, provided the design itself is not the primary attraction of the product.

For example, a client may use a logo on branded merchandise, incorporate artwork into product packaging, or use a design in advertising for their products or services.

The standard licence is intended to let clients use their finished work practically and confidently in their own business without needing to request permission for every ordinary application.

Resale and redistribution restrictions

The standard licence does not permit clients to sell, license, sublicense, or redistribute the copyrighted design itself as a product or reusable creative asset without prior written permission from Harmony Creative.

This restriction includes selling or distributing work as stock artwork, templates, design resources, or reproductions where the design itself is the primary attraction.

For example, a client may use a logo on its own branded products. However, selling art prints or merchandise primarily for the appeal of an illustration created by Harmony Creative requires separate written permission.

Clients may not claim copyright ownership of work for which copyright has not been transferred, or authorize third parties to use the work beyond the rights granted under their license.

Additional commercial rights, including merchandise licensing, resale rights, sublicensing, exclusive rights, or other expanded usage, may be negotiated separately and may involve additional fees.

Final deliverables and working files

Final deliverables are the completed files supplied to the client as agreed for the project. These may include PDFs, production-ready artwork, or packages of logo files prepared for print and digital use.

Editable original files, source files, working documents, preliminary concepts, drafts, unused concepts, and other production materials remain with Harmony Creative unless expressly included in the project agreement.

Clients who require editable working files or additional production materials may request them separately. Additional fees may apply.

Purchasing full copyright ownership

Clients may request to purchase full copyright ownership of eligible original work, together with agreed working files and other specified materials, for an additional fee.

Any copyright transfer must be agreed upon separately in writing. The agreement will identify the work being transferred, the files included, and any applicable exclusions or restrictions.

A transfer cannot include third-party materials that Harmony Creative does not own or have the right to transfer. These may include licensed fonts, stock images, illustrations, and other externally licensed assets.

Unless a separate written agreement provides otherwise, the standard usage licence applies and copyright remains with Harmony Creative.

Client-supplied materials

Clients are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and permissions to supply any materials they provide and authorize their use in the project.

By supplying files or other materials, the client confirms that they own the rights or have obtained the appropriate permissions for the intended use.

Materials supplied by clients remain the property of the client or their respective rights holders. Providing those materials to Harmony Creative does not transfer ownership or copyright.

Harmony Creative uses client-supplied materials to complete the agreed work and does not claim ownership of those materials merely because they have been supplied or incorporated into a project.

Clients remain responsible for ensuring that supplied materials may lawfully be used as requested.

Third-party materials

Projects may include third-party materials, such as stock photography, fonts, illustrations, or other licensed assets. These materials remain subject to their respective licence terms.

Purchasing or downloading a stock asset does not automatically transfer copyright or grant unrestricted rights to reuse, redistribute, modify, or transfer it to others.

Harmony Creative takes reasonable care when selecting third-party assets for projects, but clients are responsible for observing any licence restrictions that apply to their intended use. Where additional permissions are required, these must be obtained from the relevant rights holder.

Harmony Creative cannot grant rights beyond those it holds.

Portfolio and promotional use

Harmony Creative may display completed work produced for a client in its portfolio, case studies, website, social media, presentations, and other promotional materials to demonstrate its services and creative experience.

This may include displaying final designs, published examples, and descriptions of the work undertaken.

Portfolio use will respect client confidentiality, applicable third-party licence restrictions, and any specific confidentiality or non-disclosure arrangements agreed upon in writing before or during the project.

Clients who require work to remain confidential, unpublished, or undisclosed for a specified period should advise Harmony Creative before work begins so that appropriate arrangements can be agreed upon.

Harmony Creative will not knowingly disclose confidential client information solely for promotional purposes without authorization. Where a project has not yet been publicly released, portfolio display may be deferred until publication or until the client provides permission.

Permission to display work in a portfolio does not grant other parties permission to use, reproduce, or commercially exploit the work.

Quotes and project scope

Quotes are based on the project requirements and deliverables discussed with the client. Unless otherwise specified, the quoted fee covers only the services, deliverables, usage rights, and revisions agreed upon for that project.

Requests outside the agreed scope, including additional concepts, revisions, deliverables, or expanded usage rights, may incur additional fees. Where practical, any additional costs will be discussed and approved before the extra work proceeds.

If project requirements change materially, the estimate, schedule, and payment milestones may need to be revised by mutual agreement.

Payment terms and methods

Terms: Unless otherwise agreed in writing, invoices are payable upon receipt.

Overdue balances (>30 days after invoice date):

  • may accrue simple interest at 24% per annum (equivalent to 2% per month), calculated on the outstanding overdue principal.
  • If payment remains outstanding, Harmony Creative may pause work, delay delivery of outstanding deliverables, or adjust the project schedule as appropriate. Any resulting delays will be communicated to the client.

If you anticipate a payment delay or have a concern about an invoice, please get in touch promptly so that the matter can be discussed.

Accepted payment methods (in Canadian funds) include:

  • e-Transfer (preferred),
  • cash,
  • cheque, or
  • PayPal Goods & Services. However, please note that PayPal fees must be passed on to the customer. As of October 26, 2026, the most cost-effective PayPal option is via QR code (supplied on request) to send payment (1.90% + $0.10 fixed PayPal fee). PayPal fees may change, so please view their website for the current rates for domestic transactions. PayPal accepts:
    • credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express),
    • debit cards that have a Visa or Mastercard logo,
    • Canadian bank accounts or
    • PayPal wallet.
Instalment payments

Projects estimated at more than $500 may require instalment payments at agreed project milestones.

The applicable amounts and milestones will be communicated before work begins. If a required instalment becomes overdue, work may be paused and the project schedule adjusted accordingly.

Prepayments on account

Prepayments on account are generally required for new clients and larger projects. Any required prepayment amount and payment schedule will be agreed upon before work begins.

Prepayments on account are advance payments credited toward future services and invoices. They are recorded as account credits and are applied against the relevant charges when services are billed.

Prepayments and their application will be reflected in the client’s account activity or invoice summary. The remaining credit balance will reflect payments received and amounts applied to services.

Tax will be accounted for in accordance with applicable Canadian tax requirements. Depending on the arrangement, GST may become payable when an advance payment is received or becomes due, rather than only when a later invoice records the work completed.

If a project does not proceed or the client no longer requires further services, any unused prepayment balance will be refunded after accounting for completed work and any other amounts properly owing under the agreed project terms.

Cancellations and paused projects

Clients who need to cancel or postpone a project should notify Harmony Creative in writing as soon as possible.

If a project is cancelled, charges for work completed and any other amounts properly owing under the agreed project terms remain payable. Any unused prepayment balance will be refunded after the account is reconciled.

If a project is paused for an extended period, the schedule, remaining scope, and pricing may need to be reviewed before work resumes.

Delivery of final files

Final deliverables will be provided once the applicable project fees have been paid in full, unless other arrangements have been agreed upon in writing.

File formats and delivery methods are determined by the agreed project scope. Editable working files, preliminary concepts, unused drafts, and additional production materials are not included unless expressly agreed upon.

Usage rights are subject to the Copyright & Usage Rights policy above.

Policy updates and project-specific arrangements

Harmony Creative may update these policies from time to time. Updates do not automatically change terms already agreed upon for an existing project unless both parties agree to the change.

Project-specific arrangements confirmed in writing may vary from these general policies. Where a variation is agreed upon, the written project-specific arrangement will govern the matter it addresses to the extent of any inconsistency.

If you have questions or require an arrangement outside these standard terms, please discuss it with Harmony Creative before approving the quote or proceeding with work.

Thank you for choosing Harmony Creative. Clear expectations help us work together smoothly and produce the best possible results.
